Our Story

Where raw determination meets calculated performance

Pyrethral Nexus Team

Built Different, Training Smarter

Look, I'm gonna be straight with you - we didn't start Pyrethral Nexus because the world needed another gym with rows of treadmills and a juice bar. We opened these doors in 2019 because Vancouver needed a place where serious athletes and everyday warriors could push past their limits without the BS.

Our founder, Marcus Chen, spent 12 years coaching Olympic hopefuls and pro athletes before realizing something huge - that same training methodology works for anyone willing to put in the work. Whether you're coming off an injury, prepping for competition, or just tired of feeling average, we've got your back.

We're not about quick fixes or Instagram workouts that look cool but do nothing. Every program here is designed around functional movement patterns that actually translate to real life. You'll get stronger, faster, and more resilient - guaranteed.

This ain't your typical fitness center. It's a nexus point where dedication meets results.

How We Got Here

Six years of grinding, growing, and getting it right

2019

The Beginning

Opened our doors with 800 square feet and a dream. Started with just 15 members who believed in the vision. No fancy equipment yet, just barbells, kettlebells, and a lot of heart.

2020

Pandemic Pivot

Yeah, that year. When gyms closed, we moved everything online within 72 hours. Live-streamed classes from our basement. Our members stuck with us, and that loyalty? We'll never forget it.

2021

Major Expansion

Moved to our current 3,500 sq ft space on Granville. Added dedicated zones for strength training, metabolic conditioning, and recovery. Membership hit 200 and we hired three more coaches.

2022

Competition Team Launch

Started our competitive athlete program. Our first team competed at the Pacific Northwest Fitness Challenge - brought home three podium finishes. That's when people really started noticing what we're building here.

2023

Nutrition Program Added

Brought on board two registered dietitians. Started offering comprehensive nutrition consultations because we realized you can't out-train a bad diet. Game-changer for our members' results.

2024-2025

Present Day

Over 400 active members. Eight full-time coaches. Named "Best HIIT Gym in Vancouver" by Georgia Straight. But honestly? We're just getting started. The real work is helping every single person who walks through our doors discover what they're actually capable of.

What We Believe In

Progress Over Perfection

We don't care about perfect form if you're too scared to lift heavy. We'll teach you proper technique, then push you to use it under real stress. That's where growth happens.
